AgriProFocus is an international multi-stakeholder network in the agri-food sector consisting of farmer entrepreneurs, private sector enterprises, governments, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations. By bringing these stakeholders together, their individual and collective impact increases.

Active in 13 countries in Africa and South-East Asia, and linking 23.000 agribusiness professionals worldwide, we are the go-to network for farmer entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains.

The AgriProFocus network members collaborate to strengthen the position of farmers and other agri-entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains. Entrepreneurs, small and medium scale, who are market oriented, business driven and willing to learn, innovate and grow. Entrepreneurs who together can, and will, make a difference for sustainable food and nutrition security at national, regional and international level.

AgriProFocus joins Dutch economic mission to Rwanda and DR Congo

From November 10 till November 13, Lilianne Ploumen, Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will go on an economic mission to Kinshasa, DR Congo (10-11) and Kigali, Rwanda (12-13). The mission will focus on the following sectors: agri-business; renewable energy; infrastructure, maritime and port development. 

Hedwig Bruggeman, managing director of AgriProFocus, will be one of the participants in this mission. She is interested in finding out how the AgriProFocus network can accelerate its support for joint action and learning between Dutch and local SME’s in Agri&Food value chains. In DR Congo she will look into the option of extending the Agri-ProFocus Bukavu activities towards other parts of DR Congo. 

The economic mission offers an excellent opportunity to Dutch companies and knowledge institutions to build relationships with potential business partners and local authorities in DR Congo and Rwan

New release: Coffee Toolkit, approaches and tools to integrate women and youth, into all stages of the value chain

Coffee toolkit Sustainable coffee as a family business. Available online for download now!

The first toolkit to include women and youth in the coffee sector has been released today- a joint collaboration between the Sustainable Coffee Program, Hivos and Agri-ProFocus to address the inequalities that women and youth in the coffee supply chain experience in relation to access to trainings, land ownership, inputs and income. These issues create a generation demotivated to stay in coffee farming, which poses a great threat to coffee production as a whole. 

Therefore, this toolkit provides practical approaches and tools, which serve to motivate and assist coffee roasters, traders and their practitioners to apply an inclusive approach to de-veloping better functioning coffee chains, benefitting both men and women of different age groups equally. Title: ‘Milk quality at stake! Solutions from Ethiopia, India and the Netherlands for the reduction of antibiotic use in dairy farming’
Resistance against antibiotics is a global threat. Antibiotic use is a widespread phenomenon amongst smallholder dairy farmers worldwide, and often linked to dairy development programs aiming for increased milk production. Over the past 60 years the Netherlands has played an important role in this process, which is now further enhanced by government policies through topsector Agri&Food.

Now milk quality is at stake, due to widespread use of antibiotics. In this workshop experts from Ehtiopia and India working with smallholder dairy farmers will describe the influence of such dairy programs in their local situations, and indicate their local solutions for these challenge
