TechnoServe in collaboration with U.S. based Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) are implementing a project named Solutions for African Food Enterprises (SAFE) with funding from USAID. The objective of SAFE is to increase competitiveness of the African food processing sector to expand availability of affordable and nutritious foods. This is done through knowledge and technology transfer from volunteer experts from some of the world leading food and equipment manufacturers such as General Mills, Cargill, Royal DSM, Bühler and Hersheys.
TechnoServe is currently selecting food companies which will benefit from tailor-made interventions which would include; product development, branding, food safety system implementation, business planning, etc.

The goal of GAIN’s Marketplace for Nutritious Foods program is to increase the production, marketing, and availability of more safe and nutritious foods by promoting innovation and catalysing private sector engagement. It does this through improving access to knowledge, networks, technical assistance and funding by means of the following strategies: a) A Community of Practice for knowledge and networking; b) Innovation Accelerator to evaluate and provide advanced financial support and technical services to businesses showing the greatest potential for positive nutritional impact and business strength and; c) links eligible businesses with potential investors for further investment.

The International Foundation for Science is seeking individual proposals from young researchers in the developing countries. IFS supports early career development of young researchers and builds there capacity in undertaking sustainable research in biological and water resources. Applicants are encouraged to tackle research issues linked to these areas and develop solutions that are relevant to there country specific contexts.
The proposals should be drawn from any of these three research thematic areas:
1.Biological Resources in Terrestrial Systems; biodiversity,natural products,renewable energy and climate Change.
2.Water and Aquatic Resources.
3.Food security,dietary diversity and healthy livelihoods.
This includes but is not limited to;research on food production,animal production,and veterinary medicine,crop science(underutilized crops),food science and nutrition and food security.
