The book is a result of a collaboration between various organizations and agricultural programs, all partners of the AgriProFocus network in Ethiopia. In case you missed it, the Business Drinks event was great

AgriProFocus, in partnership with Ethiopia Netherlands Trade for Agricultural Growth (ENTAG), organized the second Business Drinks of the year on 30th of March 2017 at Black Rose Lounge, Addis Ababa. The Business Drinks have been organized since 2015 for the purpose of bringing together the agribusiness and agricultural development community for an informal interaction and networking.

On this last Thursday’s event 55 members of AgriProFocus as well as people from partner organizations were present. As always it was interesting to see new faces and to hear pitches about new ideas and innovations. Poultry Platform Meeting

Ethiopia-Netherlands Trade for Agricultural Growth (ENTAG) in cooperation with the Ethiopian Poultry Producers and Processors Association (EPPPA) organizes the second poultry platform meeting on April 26, 2017.

HE Professor Fikadu Beyene, Minister, Ministry of Livestock and Fishery, will attend the event which mainly focuses on the challenges of the poultry sector in Ethiopia.

Books Launch: Contract Farming & Agricultural Innovators

AgriProFocus will organize a two-day event on April 18-19, 2017.

On April 18 the closing learning agenda for the FSRE Fund winners will be held and all the winners are invited to attend. FSRE Fund was financed by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands while managed by ICCO on behalf of AgriProFocus. As the day marks also the closing of the four year program, the event will also be attended by invited relevant stakeholders from Government, Dutch Embassy, Private sector, and other development organizations are expected to attend.

Two important books are completed and published, and they will be launched on April 18 and 19, 2017. Officials from the Government and the Embassy of the Netherlands will honor us by attending and officially launching the publication of the books.

On Friday December 2, 2016, AgriProFocus Ethiopia brought together its members to celebrate the Annual Network Day with different fruitful activities. Over 140 members from various sectors attended the event with full of excitement and energy. A New Breed of Entrepreneurs!

AgriProFocus Zambia and its partners held its first Youth in Agribusiness Event from 1st - 3rd September. Our goal was simple: to link aspiring and current youth agripreneurs with each other and stakeholders in the sector to learn, share and grow.

It was a small event with a big goal, and even bigger potential to grow into a movement that would help harness our youth to grow the sector, and Zambia. Over 100 youths and 10 organisations participated in the event. 

The event comprised of presentations, panel discussions, a hackathon (using ICT for Agriculture), testimonials and a business case competition.

A special thank you to Young Emerging Farmers Initiative (YEFI), Oxfam, BongoHive, Agricomm, Agriterra, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, COMACO, and UNZA for their contributions towards making this event a success.

Business Drinks: Even More New One-minute Pitches

Philip O’Dwyer was the first person to arrive at the Business Drinks and to register for the pitch. His organization is called Maggrow East Africa Ltd. During his pitch, Philip introduced and offered us a new agricultural technology. It is a patent-protected Magnetic Spraying technology that reduces drift by up to 80% while reducing the amount of liquid and increasing productivity.  

Zegeye Teklu was one of the ten people who made pitches on our Business Drinks event on 25th August 2016. He is from Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), and he said “ATA is there to solve systematic problems of agricultural development in Ethiopia.

FSRE Up-Scaling Fund Projects Kick-off the Learning Agenda

FSRE Innovation Fund, financed by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and managed by ICCO Cooperation on behalf of AgriProFocus, has been supporting 75 innovative projects since 2012. The fund has innovation and matching grant facilities which financed 39 and 29 innovations respectively. Recently a third Up-Scaling facility is introduced to support innovation that showed accomplishment in their previous implementations.

A closed call to invite a number of innovation that have been supported by FSRE Fund to submit an up-scaling proposal was sent earlier this year. New Faces, More Pitches

The Bi-monthly Business Drinks have become a good opportunity for many agribusinesses to connect and interact with each other. The one held yesterday has brought new faces and made us to entertain interesting pitches.

Around 65 members and partners from wide variety of sectors attended the event. They represented agriculture and agro-industry companies, agricultural development programs, government agriculture research institutes, the Federal Cooperative Agency, business development consultancy firms, universities and knowledge institutes, bio-energy companies, commercial farm owners from different value chains, and so on.
