AgriProFocus is an international multi-stakeholder network in the agri-food sector consisting of farmer entrepreneurs, private sector enterprises, governments, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations. By bringing these stakeholders together, their individual and collective impact increases.
Active in 13 countries in Africa and South-East Asia, and linking 23.000 agribusiness professionals worldwide, we are the go-to network for farmer entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains.
The AgriProFocus network members collaborate to strengthen the position of farmers and other agri-entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains. Entrepreneurs, small and medium scale, who are market oriented, business driven and willing to learn, innovate and grow. Entrepreneurs who together can, and will, make a difference for sustainable food and nutrition security at national, regional and international level.

On Friday 15th October 2015, AgriProFocus Rwanda in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Rwanda organized a workshop to share information on the Applied Research Fund. The workshop brought together 44 participants from research institutions, knowledge institutes, government institutions, insurance companies, private companies, NGOs, Dutch Embassy, etc.
The workshop kicked-off with welcoming remarks from the AgriProFocus Rwanda Coordinator, Mrs Sajji Ryakunze.

We as AgriProFocus value the opinion of our members greatly and are always looking for ways to improve our services. We are well known for our training and coaching in the field of Gender in Value Chains. In order to make these services even better and reach more professionals, we have made a super short online survey to identify needs and wishes of our members.
You don’t have to have experience with gender or be familiar with the AgriProFocus gender support services to fill in this survey. We are looking for responses from a broad spectrum of people: from farmers to input suppliers, consultants and students and from a variety of organizations: companies, farmer organizations, universities and government agencies. The third edition of NABC’s conference promises to be a prominent B2B platform which focuses on Africa’s growing economies, particularly in light of innovations developing in the financial sector.

Our network approach
AgriProFocus is convinced that our network can significantly contribute to tackling the current challenges we face in food and nutrition security worldwide. Being an international, multi-stakeholder network that is active in 13 countries in Africa and South East Asia, which counts 22,000 agribusiness professionals worldwide today, we engage a wide diversity of stakeholders. No one stakeholder can bring about the desired systemic changes alone. The just concluded African Green Revolution forum organized by AGRA dubbed "Seize the moment: Securing Africa's rise through agricultural transformation" from 05TH -10TH September 2016, brought together more than 1000 delegates from across the world. The participation was drawn from Academia and research, Private sector, Governments and development organizations. AgriProFocus was glad to be represented by our own Managing director Mr Sander Mager, Kenya Country coordinator Ms. Maureen Munjua, the Youth in agribusiness thematic facilitator Mr. Alphaxrd Gitau and our very own young entrepreneur"Trendsetter Elizabeth Mbogo of Botanic Treasures.

AgriProFocus Zambia and its partners held its first Youth in Agribusiness Event from 1st - 3rd September. Our goal was simple: to link aspiring and current youth agripreneurs with each other and stakeholders in the sector to learn, share and grow.
It was a small event with a big goal, and even bigger potential to grow into a movement that would help harness our youth to grow the sector, and Zambia. Over 100 youths and 10 organisations participated in the event.
The event comprised of presentations, panel discussions, a hackathon (using ICT for Agriculture), testimonials and a business case competition.
A special thank you to Young Emerging Farmers Initiative (YEFI), Oxfam, BongoHive, Agricomm, Agriterra, SNV Netherlands Development Organisation, COMACO, and UNZA for their contributions towards making this event a success.

AgriProFocus had it's 4th Finance Fair (and 2nd in Chipata) on 25th - 26th August, 2016. The Fair was successful and we had 14 Organisation participating with 513 farmers and Individuals coming through to the event on the first day and 413 on the second day. We had 10 exhibitions, 6 workshops and 4 awards.
The event was officially opened by Provincial Agricultural Coordinator (PACO) - Mr. Roy Lumumba

Roel Snelder, Programme Director AgriProFocus, has visited Myanmar 15 till 23 July 2016. The goal of the trip was to follow-up conversations to explore and validate entry points for AgriProFocus in Myanmar. Roel also met with stakeholders and potential members of an AgriProFocus network in Myanmar and with the Dutch embassy to talk about the current situation in Myanmar, their needs and in what way AgriProFocus can assist.
With 2 network organisations, Myanmar Agricultural network (MAN) and the Food Security Working Group, already operating in Myanmar, it’s important to see where our niche would be. There was a lot of positive energy for an AgriProFocus Network.
Some characteristics of the Agriculture sector in Myanmar:
Farm labour on the decline - many rural people now seeking jobs overseas.
Government control (telling farmers what to produce).
Agriculture needs to become more technology intensive, increase yields, better seeds, value additi
Philip O’Dwyer was the first person to arrive at the Business Drinks and to register for the pitch. His organization is called Maggrow East Africa Ltd. During his pitch, Philip introduced and offered us a new agricultural technology. It is a patent-protected Magnetic Spraying technology that reduces drift by up to 80% while reducing the amount of liquid and increasing productivity.
Zegeye Teklu was one of the ten people who made pitches on our Business Drinks event on 25th August 2016. He is from Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), and he said “ATA is there to solve systematic problems of agricultural development in Ethiopia.

The event was held on the 17th and 18th August 2016 and In attendance were over 400 participants majority of whom where youth that were supported by partner organisations, AFARD, West Nile on Line, Self Help Africa, Technoserve, West Nile Youth Network, SNV YES Programme, ADINGON, CEGED, Arua NGO Forum, ZOA,CEFORD, Tecnoserve, Caritas Arua and the Red Cross.

For the eighth time, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized the Agri-Finance & Market Linkages event in Ruhango on 11-12 August 2016.
The aim of the two-day event was to bring together farmers from the Southern Province, finance service providers, agribusiness companies and Development partners operating in Rwanda for better information sharing, dialogue and interaction to address various burning issues in farmer entrepreneurship, including Access to Finance, Access to Market, and Information on quality inputs and equipment.
On a ground next to Umuco Hotel where this fair was held, it presented to the farmers, inspiring practical information & knowledge on access to finance & access to markets, in forms of exhibitions, dialogue and interactions. The exhibitors and numerous visitors met each other;.

AgriProFocus in collaboration with the Netherlands Platform for Inclusive Finance (NpM) – the leading national platform for inclusive finance worldwide – held a half day consultative forum on inclusive finance for smallholders on Thursday, 28th July 2016 at Amber Hotel in Nairobi.
The forum presented key findings from a study done by the rural finance working group of NPM and AgriProFocus entitled: “Finance for Smallholders: Opportunities for Risk Management by linking Financial Institutions and Producer Organizations”. 57 participants drawn from micro-finance institutions, insurance companies, banks, producer organisations and development partners were in attendance.

In June 2016 ten AgriProFocus Gender in Value Chain (GVC) coaches from a variety of countries (ranging from Ethiopia, Uganda and Zambia to Benin and Indonesia) gathered in Kampala for a training. The objective of this training was twofold: it was held to further expand the expertise of national Gender coaches, while also creating a solid team, a community of coaches for co-creation and peer learning. Most of the participants already had experience in GVC coaching, which made the training not only an advanced course, but also the perfect occasion to link the coaches from different countries and create a network of coaches.
The Gender in Value Chains approach of AgriProFocus is a practical approach, build on hands-on advice and coaching by national coaches, and has as mission to improve gender equity in agricultural value chain development.

La foire agricole s’est déroulée dans le Territoire d’Uvira, du 28 au 30 juillet à l’Institut Mwanga.
Cette foire a connu la participation de 47 organisations, dont 5 institutions financières ( 2 banques et 3 IMFs), 2 Institutions de recherche, 1 Service étatique (Office National du CAFE) , 5 entreprises du secteur privé et 34 organisations des producteurs.
Cette foire avait comme but : connecter les agriculteurs aux entrepreneurs (pour l’accès au marché) et aux institutions des finances (pour l’accès aux crédits agricoles).
Durant 3 jours, les exposants et visiteurs ont eu droit à des présentations, débats et discussions sur différents thèmes mais aussi c’était un moment offert aux agriculteurs pour des échanges d’expériences et la connexion entre acteurs.
Nous avons noté la participation d’une organisation venue du Rwanda(SEED-CO) et 2 autres venues du Burundi.

G1Project et son partenaire AgriProFocus Mali, ont tenu ce mercredi 27 juillet 2016 dans les locaux de AgriProFocus, une conférence de presse sur la formation de trois jeunes agriculteurs au sénégal.
La conference était animée par le Coordinateur de AgriProFocus Mali , Mr Oudou Bengaly, le Coordinateur de Give One Project Mr Ibrahima Maiga et Mr Georges Akibodé , Network développent et Point Focal Jeunesse- Entreprenariat agricole .
L'objectif de l'association , Ibrahim Maiga souligne qu'il vise à susciter la culture du leadership et de l'entreprenariat auprès des jeunes maliens. Ce dimanche 31 juillet 2016, journée panafricaine de la femme, votre réseau AgriProFocus a lancé le 1er numéro de l'émission AgroBusiness Online sur les ondes de la radio MALIBA FM 95.5 FM, située à l’ACI 2000.
L'émission a débuté à 9h pour une durée de 60mn.
