Call for proposals 2017:
African local resources in the service of family farming

The aim of the call for proposals:

Enhancing the local resources of African lands (agricultural practices, know-how, local agricultural products, etc.) and optimizing their management in order to support their role in the development of family farming in Africa.

SEED Foundation wishes to support projects that maintain the diversity of the local resources while offering innovative prospects to transform the agricultural system. This theme is an answer to the challenges of standardization and homogenization of practices and the loss of diversity in the agri-food sector.

Theme: Enhancing the African local resources and optimizing their management

Eligible applicants: French and African non-profit organizations in a formalized partnership

Grant: between 7,000€ and 15,000€

Total funding for 2017: 45,000€

Location: 21 African countries

Share of the funding on the total budget of the project: between 10% and 70%

Tony Elumelu Foundation - Entrepreneurship Program for Africans 2017

The Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Program (TEEP) fosters and supports start-up enterprises in Africa. TEEP combines mentoring, training, forums, seed capital, and alumni support to individuals in Africa proposing new business ideas or early-stage companies in sectors that include agriculture, among others. The program is open to citizens and legal residents ages 18 and older in any African country. The period for applications (English, French, Portuguese) is 01 January through 01 March. Netherlands Enterprise Agency - Sustainable Water Fund (FDW)

The Netherlands Enterprise Agency manages the Sustainable Water Fund (FDW) as a public-private partnership for water safety and water security in developing countries. Projects are collective initiatives between governmental bodies, industries, and NGOs. The thematic areas are improved access to drinking water and sanitation (including solid waste); efficient and sustainable water use, particularly for agriculture; and safe deltas and improved basin management. The SAGCOT has set aside funds in the financial year 2016 budget towards the cost of its operations and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the funds to cover eligible payments under the contracts for Provision of Consultancy Services as indicated below:

Echoing Green helps emerging social entrepreneurs around the world with grants of seed capital and technical assistance to support their start-up organizations. The World Bank is inviting academics, entrepreneurs, innovators, businesses, universities and nonprofits to apply for its Big Data Innovation Challenge with an aim to identify and recognize innovative big data solutions that leverage new sources of data such as government-released open data, satellite imagery, mobile network data, anonymized private sector data, social media data and surveys among others.
