From the 27thJune until the 01July of June 2018, Dutch companies and organizations, active in agri-business in Rwanda, demonstrated their knowledge and expertise to the public at the 13th National Agricultural Show held at Mulindi show Ground, Kigali, Rwanda.
The agriculture show was organized for the 13th year by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) in Rwanda. The theme year was: ‘Invest in Innovations and Agribusiness to Transform Agriculture’. MINAGRI organized the Agri-Show aiming to prosper and flourish business and technology transfer in Agriculture of Rwanda. Rwanda is in need of technologies that can support for sufficient quantity and quality seeds, fertilizers, water/irrigation, and training to ensure productive farming in the country.
With the support of Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands in Rwanda, this year in the Holland pavilion the presence of Dutch agri-business companies was combined together with Dutch NGOs active in the agri-business sector in Rwanda.
AgriProFocus Rwanda stand received many visitors who were interested in our LINKING-LEARNING-LEADERSHIP activities; with our core role of making agribusiness work for development, we assisted them in registering on our online platform and we gave them a booklet and factsheets showcasing the impact of our network in the past 7 years in Rwanda (with our members' testimonies),and explaining them what to expect from our network in 2018, respectively .In addition, it was a good opportunity to explain more about E-Hinga mobile-based App that helps smallholder farmers to improve their productions by accessing agronomic services through a mobile phones.(Read more about E-Hinga)
The companies, Holland Greentech, and Severe Weather Consult got a lot of attention by exposing amongst others use of hybrid seeds, a small scale irrigation system, best agronomist practices, a solar irrigation system and an innovative weather information system technology.
Africa Improved Foods showed their products in our pavilion. The company recently started in Rwanda, manufacturing high quality, nutritious foods made of locally sourced ingredients addressing the nutritional needs of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children from 6-24 months old.
The Dutch NGO’s ICCO, GAIN Rwanda, PUM, AgriProFocus Rwanda , Agriterra, Spark and SNV/Hortinvest project informed visitors of our pavilion on their activities in Rwanda: from strengthening capacities in the agriculture and food security Sector to strengthening of youth agri-entrepreneurs. Other Dutch companies like ProDev-Rwanda ltd, Waka Waka Rwanda ltd, Delphy B.V, Bramin ltd, and BiD Network showcased the visitors of the Holland pavilion on their products and services as well.
We were also privileged to have a visit from Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources Gerardine Mukeshimana and Mrs Frederique de man, Dutch ambassador to Rwanda visiting the Holland Pavilion during the 13th AgriShow.
During the closing ceremony of the expo the Holland Pavilion was announced as award-winning pavilion where each Dutch organization and/or company received a certificate!
