Nestlé is now accepting applications for the 2016 Nestlé Creating Shared Value Prize to provide financial grants of up to USD 540,000 for innovative projects, programmes or businesses that have already been tested as a pilot or small scale, have demonstrated high social and environmental impact, and need support to become commercially viable.


There are three categories of funding

  1. Rural Development: sustainable agriculture, development of local value chains and extension services etc.
  2. Water: improving access to clean water; protection and conservation of water resources: water, sanitation and hygiene etc.
  3. Nutrition: improving access to food; food fortification and technology; nutrition education programmes etc.

The prize invests financial and technical resources in the winning initiatives, with the objective of helping them be brought to scale and to achieve financial sustainability. The winners share a total of CHF 500,000 in prize money (approx. USD 540,000).

DFID's The Agri-Tech Catalyst: Funding for Collaborating Projects

The UK Department for International Development's (DFID) 'The Afri-Tech Catalyst' provides funding for collaborative projects, taking innovative ideas from any sector or discipline to tackle challenges in agriculture.

The Agri-Tech Catalyst will fund proposals relating to:

  • primary crop and livestock production, including aquaculture
  • non-food uses of arable crops (for example, for biomass)
  • food security and nutrition challenges in international development
  • challenges in downstream food processing, provided the solution lies in primary production.

Three categories of grant are available: early-stage awards, industrial research awards and late-stage awards.

Watermelon is an extremely popular fruit. While we all enjoy eating this sweet refreshing fruit, we usually discard the tiny seeds scattered in it without realizing or rather knowing of their health benefits. These seeds are loaded with nutrients including fatty acids, essential proteins and lots of minerals. The AGCO Africa Ambassador Program invites individuals above 21 years of age to submit video (30 seconds to 3 minutes long) of themselves explaining why they should be chosen to act as the AGCO Africa Ambassador to Germany during the International Green Week (16-25 January 2015) in Berlin. The Ambassador will also host the AGCO Africa Summit on 19 January 2015.


The AGCO is an Agriculture company based in the USA.

An individual will be selected as the Ambassador and s/he will occupy the position for one year period. The ambassador will be responsible to regularly report (bi-weekly) about trends and developments in African agriculture and economy as well as AGCO‘s activities in Africa on Facebook and Twitter in posts, uploads and video messages during the one year contract period (when appropriate, participation at AGCO events in Africa).

The Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) on Wageningen UR Creating Capacities for Change - Courses 2015

The Wageningen UR Centre for Development Innovation (CDI) yearly conducts a number of short-term training courses for the development of professionals worldwide. Most of these fellowship courses are open for the Netherlands Fellowship Program (NFP) to working professionals who are the citizen of and are working in the NFP country. An NFP fellowship is intended to supplement the salary that the fellow should continue to receive during the study period. The allowance is a contribution towards the costs of living, the costs of tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research.
