In the light of its mission to promote farmer entrepreneurship, AgriProFocus has a solid basis to contribute to: Goal 2: Zero Hunger; Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; Goal 13: Climate Action; Goal 15: Life on land.

Policy pillars Dutch government

The AgriProFocus network underscores the key policy pillars for food security of the Dutch government: eradicating hunger and malnutrition; sustainable and inclusive growth of the agricultural sector and creating ecologically sustainable food systems. Within this broader policy framework, AgriProFocus supports the Dutch government pledge for increased coherence. More in particular the network empha

Investment Opportunities in the Zambian Poultry Sector

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Harare in conjunction with AgriProFocus Zambia and the Poultry Association of Zambia commissioned a market study on investment opportunities to inform the Dutch businesses that have interest in investing in the Zambian poultry industry.

In the poultry sector lie different investment opportunities. This video highlights these opportunities, the costs of investments, expected returns and the Poultry Companies seeking the different investment opportunities.

A growing sector

Notwithstanding lack of data on Zambia’s poultry imports and exports, this ideo shows that the Zambia poultry has been growing steadily for the past five years averaging around 8 % and 20% for broilers and layers annual production respectively. The rapid poultry production increase is attributed to a number of factors such as national population increase, disposable income rise buoyed by growing middle income class, investmen

Expert Meeting: 'It Takes Two to Trade'

Event posted by in AgriProFocus Netherlands
  24 March 2016, 13:00-18:00
  KIT, Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam

A sustainable relationship between farmers and their customers is paramount for good business. To achieve this both parties need to be aware of each other's strengths, weaknesses, and perceptions. In a structured way, the 2-2-Trade tool brings these strengths, weaknesses and perceptions to the surface.

With a facilitated, structured discussion 2-2-Trade creates mutual understanding between farmers and their customers creating space for development and new initiatives and opportunities that bring benefit to both.

That sounds nice, but what is in it for me?

After this session you understand:

• how trade relations can be made more sustainable and profitable by looking at the critical components of the relation.

• how the 2- 2 Trade tool can be used in your business cases.

What you can expect:

After a network lunch (13.00-14.00 hrs) with a.o. our Business Linkage advisors from several Country Networks, we will discuss:

1. Farmer – firm relations: A simple model with 7 critical components
