A celebration to remember: 10 years AgriProFocus!

Yesterday we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of AgriProFocus in the Netherlands and at the same time we said goodbye to the Managing Director of AgriProFocus: Hedwig Bruggeman.

All the members of our Dutch Partnership were present to celebrate this special day. Keynote was given by Mr. Kees Rade, director of the department of Inclusive Green Growth of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized the power of networks and the growing importance of food security on the agenda of the Dutch government.

In the afternoon we tested the power of networks! Our participants were divied into groups and played a special trading game. And AgriProFocus wouldn't be AgriProFocus if we didn't choose some very special settings and suprised people. The groups walked through the Dutch Open Air Museum and enjoyed performances of different kinds: an capella vocal group, musical theatre and cabaret.

In the evening all the spotlights were on Hedwig

What can geo-information do for you?

I had no idea what the possibilities of geo-data and spatial information were. Well, yesterday I learned; they are endless! And our newest AgriProFocus member in The Netherlands, ITC, can tell us all about it.

We (Roel, Rolf and myself) visited the vibrant faculty of the University of Twente on the day around 120 new students arrived, coming from 70 different countries. Our main question was: ‘What can ITC, as a knowledge institute, bring to the members of the AgriProFocus network and what would you like to get out of it?’

Become a student

Tom Loran, Course Director at ITC explains us: “ITC is recognized for its achievements in teaching, research and capacity development in the field of geo-information and earth observation. Students are trained to be professionals, capable of acquiring knowledge and translating this into practical applications for solving problems aroud food security, water or soils.” If you are interested in knowing mo

AgriProFocus Network Results 2014

Reading our Annual Report 2014 could be a time-consuming activity, that's why we've created an infographic which shows our Network Results 2014 in one glance!

The infographic follows the order and colours of our Way of Working: light green shows our activities based on knowledge sharing and co-creation, darker green shows the market uptake like deals and partnerships and finally, the grey area shows the amount of households that have benefitted, leading to stronger farmer entrepreneurs.
