CBI is starting a new programme in the sector ‘Natural Ingredients’ in East and Southern African countries. The focus is on sustainable export development and export promotion to the European market.The core programme starts in the following export value chains and countries:

  • Coffee - Uganda;
  • Tea - Kenya;
  • Oilseeds - Uganda and Ethiopia;

...and can be extended to Small and Medium Enterprises/Exporters on coffee in Ethiopia, Rwanda and Tanzania, tea in Tanzania and Mozambique and on oilseeds in e.g. Mozambique. A nuts (macademia, cashew) as well as tree fruits project might be added later on in several countries.

Our vision with the Programme for East & Southern Africa is...

Dear Patrick,

This is interesting indeed. In Rwanda, we are facing the same challenges regarding the export of our natural ingredients. I am particularly interested in discussing with you how "potentially", we, at Agri-Hub Rwanda can assist you in expanding your activities in the great lakes region via our network of a larger "agri-Hub Great Lakes" comprising, Rwanda, Burundi and Eastern DR Congo.

At the moment, CBI will focus on the export of value added tea, specialty coffee, and added value oilseeds. Rwanda will be eligible for the coffee and tea programme. On you will find more information on the programme. On the left site of that website, you find a.o. an application form for our export coaching programme for producers/exports as well as brochures.

There will be a kick-off meeting in Rwanda early 2013 for the comapnies that are interested.

Also Tanzania will be included on the coffee and tea.
