I am Thacien MUNYAMAHAME, am working as AgriProFocus network Assistant in Rwanda. I have replaced Mr. Didier Muyiramye for this post in AgriProFocus Rwanda. Generally, I will work by moderating the online platform of AgriProFocus Rwanda. In addition, I am Rwandan by Nationality and I have got my bachelor’s degree in the Faculty of Agriculture of National University of Rwanda. I hold a diploma in agriculture technology from Agro-Studies program of Israel state. Previously, I worked for Better World Rwanda in the coordination of agricultural projects. In this organization, I was supporting the beneficiaries especially farmers through conducting training, workshops, communications and market linkages activities for the purpose of improving their household income.

On Wednesday 30th August 2017, AgriProFocus Rwanda in collaboration with Oxfam in Rwanda and National Co-operatives Confederation of Rwanda (NCCR) organized a workshop “Organic certification for Horticulture value Chain‘’ at Umubano Hotel, Kigali Rwanda.
This workshop’s objective was to discuss on the issues challenges and gaps which limit the development of Horticulture cooperatives among which organic certification is major and discuss possible solutions to address the identified issues.
During this workshop, there were 31 different horticulture value chain actors and stakeholders. The participants came from Government Institutions (NAEB, RALIS, RSB and RCA), NGOs and INGOs (Oxfam, INADES-Formation, and DUTERIMBERE), PSF (Farmers and Companies), Horticulture Cooperatives federation including organic farmers (ROAM) and cooperative union.

The main purpose of the position is to formulate policy, implement programmes, research and training modules to promote and strengthen the inclusion and mainstreaming of gender, youth and broader social development issues in Agricultural research and development programmes and projects by FARA.
