Agricultural finance fair 2017 - Kabale

 “I am a potato farmer and have been having a challenge of accessing good seed, however during this event i have had access and got contacts of good quality seed producers. Thank you Agriprofocus and partners of this event.” - Tumukunde Annet, a female farmer.  

On the 12th and 13th of July 2017, AgriProFocus in partnership with SNV, Bank of Uganda, Trias, AMFUI, ISSD, IFDC, aBi Finance, GIZ, LADA, Excel Hort, Kabale Traders Association, Reign Business Development Agency (REBDA), KAZADI and Uganda National Seed Potato Association held an Agribusiness fair in the Kigez region covering (Kabale, Kisoro, Kanungu, Rukungiri, Rukiga and Rubanda) Districts. African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF)

This year’s AGRF is themed: “Walking the Talk on Youth and Women: Bringing Inclusive Agricultural Markets to Life.” This is both timely and apt, as the continent seeks to make the prosperity inherent in agriculture-as-enterprise more inclusive for women and youth. This year’s theme was selected in through direct response to a call by young people and gender-based organizations who attended last year’s Forum to dedicate a forum to discuss strategies for overcoming challenges affecting them. 

The design of this year’s AGRF will facilitate greater engagements among leading thinkers and actors, and three key agricultural constituencies: women, youth and domestic private agribusiness. Collectively, the Forum hopes to come up with a blue print of creating viable agri-enterprises that will not only contribute to reversing the food import bill but will also grow Africa’s economies by double digits.
