Agripreneur pour toujours

‹‹Revenir et prendre sa place dans la société malienne, se lancer et se faire une place respectable dans l’écosystème entrepreneuriale , c’est possible quand on le veut vraiment ›› ! Telle est la vocation du jeune Adama Kanté, un fils de la diaspora qui est bien parti pour être une référence dans l’agrobusiness au en Afrique.

Né en Côte d’Ivoire et l’aîné d’une fratrie de six, Adama Kanté a dû vite rejoindre le Mali avec toute la famille, son père ayant du mal à se trouver un emploi pour supporter les charges familiales.

C’est alors que nourrissant des idées d’Entreprendre, et avec le soutien de sa Maman, le jeune Kanté s’est lancé dans le maraîchage à partir de 10 000 F (une boîte de persil et 2 arrosoirs). Rwandan winner of the African Diaspora Projects Initiative 2018

The competition 'Sustainable Technology for Africa' (SusTech4Africa), is organised by Belgian organisations Entrepreneur Entrepreneurs, VITO, The African Diaspora Projects Initiative and Thomas More highschool.  SusTech4Africa helps (aspiring) entrepreneurs with African roots by developing their idea and transforming it into a complete business plan. During the past weeks, eleven young shoots were intensely accompanied and assisted.

Project of the year is from Zilipa Nyirabyago - a circular economy based social project in Rwanda, supporting rural farmers to grow mushrooms on coffee waste and using the waste from mushrooms as compost for farming.

Online Course: Diaspora Investment in Agribusiness

16 January 2017 – 27 February 2017

Please find attached the announcement for an Online Course on Diaspora Investment in Agribusiness. This course will take place from 16 January - 27 February 2017 and is facilitated through agencies based in the Netherlands. The course aims to provide a number of ideas that can be used in discussions between migrants and relatives who engage in agriculture, processing and marketing. It concentrates on small initiatives which are within reach of migrant households. Although many migrants already invest in land, the focus of this course is on a better use of existing farmland and on all further steps – “from farm to fork”. The term “agribusiness” stands for all the phases of agricultural production from the preparation of the soil to the storage, transport, and the selling of the processed products.
