The AgriProFocus network, in close collaboration with F&BKP, facilitates the second Community of Practice (CoP) for and with professional youth from members and stakeholders! EDUKANS with Development Expertise Center (DEC) hosted a full day workshop at Ghion Hotel on 11th October 2017

The workshop was aimed at celebration of 10th year of DEC and sharing the Edukans developed 7-STEPS, a tested formula that builds sustainable links between the local labour market, schools and training institutions. The result? Young people gain skills through relevant and high-quality education, while employers get the highly-skilled personnel they need.

Ato Teshome Lemma the State Minister of TVET Agency also gave a brief explanation about the general situation of the TVET sector of Ethiopia. The minister also quoted our aim is to "creating coherent based TVET sector in formal and non formal ways"

At the event there were also a group discussion on the 7-steps of Edukans.

Edukans is the development organization for education. Globally, 263 million children and young people do not go to school or they stop prematurely. Education gives children skills to build a good future. That is why we are working on better education in developing countries every day.

Aim of the job: The Programme Officer Skills contributes to the development of the skills programme in Kenya, based on the focus areas of Edukans International.

Edukans is mobilizing agricultural teachers for exchange Netherlands with Uganda, Ethiopia.

From chalk & talk to active learning, that is the summary of Edukans exchange visits for Dutch agricultural teachers. See the video on the exchange visit to Uganda in 2014: http://vimeo.com/116189744

Learn4Work call 4 for concept notes (deadline 5 Feb)

Edukans announces a call for concept notes for Learn4Work, the partnership programme on technical and vocational training (TVET) in Africa. Do you have an idea for a project to improve the accessibility and quality of vocational education in order to fight youth unemployment in developing countries? And do you need support in carrying it out? Apply now!


First thing to do: contact the national coordinator in your country! He or she can help you with developing your idea into a concrete and detailed plan, with finding suitable and capable partners, with filling out the forms, and with submitting your proposal. In short: with all the steps that are necessary to turn your idea into reality. Please make sure to ask for support from the national coordinator on time, well before the expiration of the deadline!

Do you think vocational education in Africa is a challenge? Do you want to start or continue a project on improving the quality of and access to vocational training? Then we are looking for you. You can now submit a project proposal to Learn4Work, together with a public-private partnership, consisting of schools, companies and NGO’s. This partnership must consist of at least four partners from Africa and the Netherlands. The implementation countries in Africa are: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Rwanda.

Learn4Work is a program that improves vocational education in Africa. It connects African and Dutch organisations, training institutes, companies and people. Learn4Work contributes to:

Edukans is organising a tour-conference in Ethiopia to exchange good practices and lessons learned from Learn4Work phase-I and to train on the appropriation of concepts that facilitate labour market driven vocational education and entrepreneurship in Africa. This tour will provide a unique opportunity to explore the potential for new international, multisectoral public-private partnerships as part of Learn4Work-II (2012-2016). These partnerships need to enhance access to and improve the quality of vocational training that meets the demands of the local labour market.

Learn4Work is a programme that focuses on the enhancement of quality of and access to vocational education and training in Africa. Phase-I ran from 2008-2012 and encompassed 8 projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, Zambia, and Ghana. The highly motivated C4C round table workshop went on very well at Courtyard Hotel in Lusaka. A 2 day workshop brought together various stakeholders from, and supporters of the economic development sector in Zambia.It was was organised and facilitated by IICD, OPPAZ and Agri-ProFocus Zambia. 

The workshop was well attended by key personel from various institutions who participated and contributed very well to the workshop. Selected institutions presented their experiences on crucial issues linked to " improving the flow of information, and the system of communication,among value chain actors and suppoters" while the rest joined in to discuss key issues either in smaller groups or general platform. the atmosphere of the workshop was very enthusiastic.
