The 9th edition of the ‘’Agri-Finance & Market Linkages’’ event

For the 9th time, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized the Agri-Finance & Market Linkages event. During this year, the Agri-finance fair took place in Muhanga district on 24-25th August, 2017.

Due to the information gap on financial services and to offer a market linkages opportunity in agriculture of Rwanda, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized this fair to improve agribusiness development by facilitating an easy access to financial services and business linkages between the key stakeholders of the Agri-food sector in Rwanda.

The 4th National Cooperatives Exhibition, Bazaar and Symposium Opened Today

Dutch young farmers association shared experience

The 4th National Cooperatives Exhibition, Bazaar and Symposium officially opened today by His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen at United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa.

Director General of the Federal Cooperative Agency (FCA), His Excellency Usman Surur, on his welcoming speech, explained that the event has an objective of bringing together governmental and non-governmental organizations that work with cooperatives, as well as agricultural input suppliers, manufacturing and consumer goods producers, and financial institutions for the purpose of creating sustainable market linkages.

According to FCA, the number of registered basic cooperatives in Ethiopia until June 2016 is 78,648, with nearly 15 million members. The number of cooperatives in the agricultural sector is 23,111 and they have about 9 million farmer members. T

All the Abstracts & Papers for oral or poster presentation MUST be aligned to one of the following sub themes:

1. Perishable food crop commodities (fruits, vegetables, roots & tubers, edible fungi)

8th Edition of the ‘’Agri-Finance & Market Linkages’’ Event

Ruhango, 11-12 August 2016

For the eighth time, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized the Agri-Finance & Market Linkages event in Ruhango on 11-12 August 2016.

The aim of the two-day event was to bring together farmers from the Southern Province, finance service providers, agribusiness companies and Development partners operating in Rwanda for better information sharing, dialogue and interaction to address various burning issues in farmer entrepreneurship, including Access to Finance, Access to Market, and Information on quality inputs and equipment.

On a ground next to Umuco Hotel where this fair was held, it presented to the farmers, inspiring practical information & knowledge on access to finance & access to markets, in forms of exhibitions, dialogue and interactions. The exhibitors and numerous visitors met each other;.

The 11th National Agrishow builds fruitful business linkages

The 11th National Agricultural Exhibition under the theme “Invest in Agricultural innovations for prosperity”, closed yesterday: 20th June 2016 at Mulindi after 1 week of exhibition of agricultural products & services and new innovations in a warm weather.

Exhibitors showcased different products in a range of value addition of agricultural produce, fertilizer, livestock and poultry feed production, machinery, post-harvest handling, consulting and training services to farmers, new farming technologies.

AgriProFocus Rwanda had an exhibition stand at the showground just next to the Dutch Pavilion where 13 Dutch companies made good business contacts with potential partners in Rwanda.

On March 2015 AgriProFocus Ethiopia and OXFAM GB, in close collaboration with Rift Valley Children and Women Development Organization, organized in Batu a successful agribusiness finance fair which farmers took the stage. Read more about the previous Finance Fair HERE.

Yesterday, April 27 2016, the 2nd Agricultural Extension and Finance Fair was organized in Batu with the objective of extending the dialogue started on last year’s Finance Fair between the farmers themselves and the relevant stakeholders. Cooperatives: Towards Tackling Marketing Challenges

On the 3rd National Cooperatives’ Exhibition, Bazaar and Symposium

Last week, from 3rd to 8th February, cooperatives from all over the country came together to exhibit and sell their various types of products and services at Addis Ababa Exhibition Center. The event was organized for the third time by the Federal Cooperative Agency of Ethiopia (FCA).

With a theme “Cooperative marketing for fairness”, the event gave a good opportunity for the residents of the Capital to buy agricultural and industrial products directly from the farmers. Coffee, lentils, honey, butter, wheat, onion, avocado, . . . agricultural products from every value chain were brought to be sold with relatively cheap piece. A number of agricultural inputs and machineries were also exhibited by innovators and suppliers.

Outcomes of the conference, business innovation competition and exhibition, 25-27 November 2015

With great pleasure we herewith share the final report of the regional event ‘Promoting Innovation and Trade in Horticulture’ organised in November 2015 as a joint initiative by the Rwanda Private Sector Federation (PSF), the National Agricultural Export Board of Rwanda (NAEB) and the AgriProFocus network, in collaboration with a group of national and international partners and sponsors.

The event provided a space to meet, exchange about innovations and do business in horticulture, for about 300 conference participants, 96 exhibiting companies, and 600 exhibition visitors.
