ICCO Cooperation is launching a call for expression of interest for Value Chain Analysis consultancy in the framework of the STARS program “Strengthening African Rural Smallholders” implemented by ICCO Cooperation in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation in 4 African countries (Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal and Burkina Faso).
In Rwanda we have selected two specific value chains: rice and maize, clustered in 10 sub-value chains (according to their market channels and geographical area) as follows:

From the 16th to 19th of May 2016, members of the Youth In agribusiness Innovation Community , Ypard Uganda, SNV, The Uhuru institute, Asereca, IITA, Pulida, youth agribusiness network Africa, TUNADO, AAIN, Agro Tourism, and Afri-Banana Lead by ICCO organised the Supa Youth Camp 2016 with the theme“ Unlocking the Youth Potential in Agribusiness for sustainable livelihoods. “ that took place at Namugongo-Kyoto Spiritual resort.
In attendance were a total of 61 enterprising youth from both
Kenya and Uganda. The
camp mission statement was: Influencing a generation of agribusiness youth
leaders, change agents and hunger fighting champions driven by passion and
innovations to bring about a desired change in the agribusiness sector.

The purpose of this Poultry Event was to present the results of a poultry survey AgriProFocus conducted with small-scale poultry farmers living in and around Debre Zeit, Ethiopia. This Poultry event brought commercial farms and several pre-selected small-scale farmers and other poultry experts together to discuss the challenges in the poultry business and to jointly find ways to improve the working relations between the commercial farms and the small-scale farmers.

AgriProFocus Network Results 2015: Bankable Business Plans
FINAGRI in Segou, Mali
Segou finance fair was organised in March 2015 with support of the Netherlands Embassy and
with IFDC, Oikocredit and others. The event attracted 3258 participants and 40 exhibitors. AgriProFocus Mali organized a business plan training for submitters. 53 business plans were
shared between 3 banks and 4 microfinance institutions, 56 % was financed!

Today - April 14, 2016 - an interesting learning event, which brought together important stakeholders in the horticulture sector in Ethiopia, took place at Dreamliner Hotel, Addis Ababa.
The objective of the event was to provide a learning opportunity for the 4th round FSRE Fund Innovation Grant winner projects. AgriProFocus who is responsible in organizing FSRE Fund Learning Events for projects being supported by the Fund has recently taken a new approach – connecting projects with similar value chains for a better understanding of common challenges and opportunities. The ICCO MasterCard Foundation STARS program aims to address barriers to increase food security and income (access to financial services , insufficient farming inputs, integration into markets,) through a two-pronged approach: Development and implementation of financial products for agriculture with MFIs; and Value Chain Development and linking with financial services. The five-year program aims to increase income and food security for at least 210,000 low-income, smallholder farmers (50% women) and their families. On February 18th 2016, AgriProFocus Rwanda successfully organized the ‘’ASDF Learning Event’’ at Chez Lando Hotel. The purpose of this event was to provide an opportunity for the funded projects to come together, share experiences, briefly learn from each other.
The ASDF (Agri-Sector Development Facility) was financed by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Rwanda and managed by ICCO on behalf of AgriProFocus Rwanda since December 2013, the facility was closed on 31st December 2015.
Comprised of 2 distinct windows:
- the ‘’Agri-Sector Innovation Fund'' (ASIF) ) with a maximum grant of 100,000 Euros and
