DAY 1-2018 Youth Caravan to provide agricultural guidance and linkages to market

Kigali – November 27, 2018: In collaboration with our partners Rwanda Youth In Agribusiness Forum (RYAF), the ministry of agriculture and animal resources MINAGRI, HortINVEST, Help a Child Rwanda, ICCO Cooperation, USAID Feed the Future Hinga Weze, Rural Development Initiative and YEAN Rwanda we have launched today the agricultural caravan of the first ever “Youth in Agribusiness Caravan” in Rwanda.

Theme of this edition is “Youth Making Agribusiness “Cool”, a basis of Sustainable Economic Development”. Our goal is to establish and build the communication between agricultural agribusinesses and the youth in general and the agripreneurs in particular to closely learn about the untapped opportunities existing in the agriculture landscape in Rwanda.

The 10th edition of the ‘’Agri-Finance & Market Linkages’’ event

For the 10th time, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized the Agri-Finance & Market Linkages event. During this year, the Agri-finance fair took place in Kayonza district on 30-31 August, 2018.

There is information gap on financial services and market linkages opportunity in agriculture of Rwanda, AgriProFocus Rwanda organized this fair to improve agribusiness development by facilitating an easy access to financial services and business linkages between the key stakeholders of the Agri-food sector in Rwanda.

Call for Expression of Interest - Documentation of Three Pathways CEA Kenya 

ICCO Consortium members under the name “Civic Engagement Alliance (CEA)” in Kenya are in a Strategic Partnership on Lobby and Advocacy with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and have initiated a five year program (2016-2020) titled ‘Convening and Convincing.’ The program’s main objective is to ensure that civil society can contribute to decreasing inequality and injustice in societies in order to create the conditions for just economic, social and political development. A successful Business to Business (B2B) event was organized for the improvement of the Rice Value Chain in Rwanda!

On 8th February 2018 at Lemigo hotel, ICCO Cooperation through its Strengthening African Rural Smallholders (STARS) program, brought together, in a business to business (B2B) event, key rice value chain actors and supporters to discuss and open opportunities for business synergy in the value chain. The aim of the B2B was to link rice value chain actors and supporters so they can connect, collaborate, network, talk business and make deals.

Young Africans are shaking up agriculture with new ideas and sky-high ambition, making agribusiness the next dominant employment generator for the millennials despite the effects caused by climate change. Younger generation are harnessing new techniques and experimenting with ways to add value with various agricultural products.However this efforts are being faced by a number of challenges.

There exists a myriad of good initiatives aimed at generating employment for youth in agribusiness among various stakeholders. However, these initiatives face huge challenges that prevent them from generating the number of jobs needed to meet the increasing demand.

Mung bean producers to receive international help in cultivation, diversification

CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST OF “Rapid Rural Appraisal of Household Income Expenditures with Smallholder Farmers”

Deadline: 20th March 2017  

ICCO Cooperation is launching a call for expression of interest for a “Rapid Rural Appraisal of Household Income Expenditures with Smallholder Farmers” in the framework of the STARS program (Strengthening African Rural Smallholders); implemented by ICCO Cooperation in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation in 4 African countries (Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal and Burkina Faso).

ICCO STARS - Rwanda aims to gain insight into how a 30% increase in income with smallholder farmers could be measured. This can be done by the following activities:
