AQUACULTURE INNOVATION CHALLENGE 2019 KICKS OFF WITH A SPLASH

This year’s Aquaculture Innovation Challenge (AIC) Indonesia will kick off in Jakarta on 23 January, starting at 13:00. The AIC is intended for students, start-ups, project teams, small and medium-sized enterprises and other companies who boast groundbreaking ideas or innovations that can improve the shrimp industry but require knowledge, networks, finance or capital.

An inspirational group of speakers will discuss different aspects of the shrimp industry and how its sustainability can be improved through innovation and investment. Attendees will also find out more about the criteria, process and opportunities provided by the Aquaculture Innovation Challenge.

Youth Learning Visit to Climate Smart Agriculture Practice in Southern Ethiopia

On November 28th and 29th, the Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) invited youth from AgriProFocus' Youth in Agricultre and Agroecology Networks to learn from project and community experience in implementing climate smart agriculture (CSA) around Doyogena in Southern Ethiopia. 

Youth had the opportunity to learn about watershed management, climate smart livestock, and home gardening. Please see the video below to learn about where some of the visiting youth came from, and what they considered to be highlights of their CSA learning visit.

SPCC visit to Holetta Agriculture Research Center and Enchini area farmers association

The first SPCC (Strategic Partnership and Convening and Convincing) journey to HARC (Holetta Agriculture Research Center) and Enchini area farmers association is quite interesting and successful in sharing information and knowledge. The journey was done in collaboration with ECDD (Ethiopian Center for Disability Development), OSRA (Oromo self resilient association) and AgriProFocus Ethiopia. Here is a short report of the journey and we hope you will get lots of experience from it.

Introducing AgriProFocus Ethiopia’s new youth interns

Hello AgriProFocus Community, My name is Yonas Alemayehu. I am an environmental science and sustainable development student at Hope College of Business, Science and Technology. I’m currently working as an intern at APF Ethiopia. I’m interested in Agroecology and Climate Smart Agriculture as it addresses food security and the relationship between climate change and agriculture. At APF Ethiopia, I’m assisting in the development of the Youth Business Challenge and also on the agroecology and urban agriculture platform development activities, as well as representing AgriPro Focus in ad-hoc external meetings and events.
