Fear of losing job inspired Nanozi to start a business

Every young person’s dream is to get a job as soon as they leave university. Some have been lucky while others have searched for jobs until the soles of their shoes have worn out.

Victoria Nanozi on the other hand had a different journey; perhaps one of the lucky ones who worked while studying and got even better jobs thereafter. This is her story.

I left university in 2002 after acquiring a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences. I have always had a job even while at campus and never lacked anything because I had the money to sustain me.
In 2010, I was working on an HIV project with a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and a year down the road, our founders threatened to pull out in terms of supporting the project.
The project was in 27 districts and out of these, 10 were phased out. This was an eye opening experience because everything had to change. I had never been out of employment and I was worried because I was relying on the job
