SNV has launched a multi-country and multi-sector project on Evidence Based Advocacy (EBA) in partnership and agreement with Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (DGIS). This five-year project aims to strengthen capacities of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to advocate for a conducive enabling environment in WASH, Renewable Energy, Food and Nutrition Security and Resilience.
The overall aim of the Food and Nutrition Security Theory of Change is “To improve food security and nutrition at scale for all members of society, and for mothers and young children in particular, to ensure sustainable and equitable food and nutrition security for future generations”.

Following the implementation of 12,000 bio-digesters that benefited over 70,000 people, SNV, with support from the Tanzanian Government and the Norwegian Embassy, will install an additional 10,000 biogas plants from 2016 to 2018. This project will help to increase access to clean, modern energy in rural and peri-urban areas of the country.

AgriProFocus together with The Dairy Association of Zambia, Agriterra and SNV have finalised the report on the assessment on viable models for artificial insemination (AI) in the dairy sector.
On the basis of this research, the members will design new interventions in 2016 that can improve the uptake of AI including improved animal health and feeding. AgriProFocus will also use these findings to develop new content for the Dairy Learning Labs.

On the 17th, 19th and 21st December 2015, a 3days training entitled ‘Youth entrepreneurship training’ took place at Ninzi Hill Hotel/ Kacyiru, Kigali. The training aimed at providing the knowledge, skills and attitudes in entrepreneurship that will best meet the youth employment needs and develop positive attitude towards self employment, judicious use of material and time on the field.
The Youth entrepreneurship training was jointly organized by AgriProFocus Rwanda in Partnership with SNV. The contents of the training mainly focused on: Self Assessment Sessions, Entrepreneurial Competencies, Assessing Business Opportunities, Business Management Sessions and various instructive, entertaining and relaxing games and exercises (Kind of sessions that enable to be equipped with useful knowledge and skills needed to start up new ventures).

AgriProFocus in collaboration with SNV and Agri-Business Incubation Trust presented this report in the form of an investment guide at the Regional Horticulture Event in Rwanda in November to attract investors from the region to Zambia.

The dairy learning labs held from 23rd November to 1st December 2015 in Tanga and Arusha were co-organised by SNV, AgriProFocus, Tanzania Association of Milk Producers (TAMPRODA), Tanga Dairy Platform, Tengeru Livestock Training Agency (LITA), ECHO, and facilitated by PUM expert. With topics on feeds, animal health and reproduction, the learning labs aims at reviewing and sharing materials and methods used for training dairy farmers and to jointly improve existing practices among dairy practitioners and professionals. A total of 105 participants attended the learning labs.

Farmer entrepreneurship has been underscored as an important competence that farmers will need to drive themselves out of poverty. This idea recognizes that Agriculture which employs over 75% of Uganda’s population will not lead to the annual 6% sector growth (Malabo declaration June 2014), unlike farmers take on a business mind-set as opposed to current subsistence form of farming in the sub-Saharan Africa.
However; majority still practice subsistence farming with associated barriers, and still consider farming as a way of life with limited prospects of fostering their efforts to break the rhetoric. It's happening Now! Milk Consumption Promotion Campaign! Dairy Stakeholders' Event-2015 organizers are spearheading a campaign to promote the consumption of milk and milk products. The campaign is targeting the back to school shopping period. After engaging dairy processors: JESA Farm Dairy, Sameer/Brookside, Pearl Dairy and Mega Milk, these have agreed to promote and sell subsidized milk products. The campaign is running in the following supermarkets:
-Nakumatt (Oasis, Village Mall, Acacia),
-Capital Shoppers (Ntinda, Nakawa),
-Mega standard supermarket, Shoprite (central town, Lugogo),
-Turskys (Main gate MUK, Ntinda)
