INVITATION TO THE INCEPTION WORKSHOP FOR THE RESEARCH AND SCALING-UP PROJECT INCLUSIVE AND CLIMATE SMART BUSINESS MODELS IN ETHIOPIAN AND KENYAN DAIRY VALUE CHAINS

Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences and partners will start an NWO-funded research programme in Ethiopia and Kenya. In the attachment you will find the official invitation for the workshop "Inclusive and climate smart business models in Ethiopian and Kenyan dairy value chains" in Nairobi on February 13 from 08:00h-13.30h in Azure Hotel, Lantana Road, Westlands. 

The main objective (and reason for AgriProFocus Kenya to be involved) is to share and obtain input on the chosen research approach with key stakeholders and to adapt the research design based on the input from stakeholders.

Circular Agribusiness in the dairy sector: Let’s close the loops?

There is an interesting potential to enhance circularity in the dairy sector as well as in other agricultural sectors. Applying circular economy principles in agribusiness helps to save resources, to reduce the amount of waste and the negative environmental impact, and creates value. A ‘circular dairy economy’ tool developed by VHL Master student Mr. Mehrab Marri was discussed in a network meeting with AgriProFocus members and VHL students. The meeting generated interesting ideas for further learning on the concepts and practice of Circular Economy Agribusiness.

A unique dairy expert meeting organized by Agri-ProFocus’ members AERES group, Agriterra, FrieslandCampina, Heifer, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Van Hall Larenstein, SNV and Wageningen UR, took place at Wageningen UR on Thursday, 10 April.

Over 140 representatives of the dairy chain, farmers and researchers discussed on the modern Dutch approach, based on a long-term successful dairy production. The meeting was facilitated by Simone van Vugt (Wageningen UR CDI).
